Traci Park is the Los Angeles City Councilmember representing Council District 11, covering Venice, Pacific Palisades, Brentwood, Mar Vista, Del Rey, Playa Vista, and Westchester. She assumed office December 12, 2022 after defeating attorney Erin Darling 52% to 48%. A former registered Republican, she is identified by the Los Angeles Times as the most conservative member of the Los Angeles City Council. Her 2022 campaign was heavily funded by real estate interests and the Los Angeles Police Protective League.

Who funds Traci Park?

Traci Park's campaigns have been primarily funded by real estate interests, police unions, and Republican-aligned donor networks. The LAPPL operated an independent expenditure committee that spent over $500,000 supporting her 2022 campaign, including over $300,000 from Douglas Emmett Inc., a major West Los Angeles landlord. The Nagel family of Decron Properties coordinated fifteen family members to donate the maximum contribution on the same day, funneling over $12,700 to her campaign. Her campaign was subsequently fined $8,000 by the LA City Ethics Commission for eight campaign finance violations.

What is Traci Park's record on housing?

Traci Park has consistently opposed affordable and supportive housing in CD11. She co-introduced the City Council resolution opposing SB 79, California's transit-oriented housing law signed by Governor Newsom in October 2025. She is named as a defendant in a 2024 fair housing lawsuit alleging she illegally obstructed the Venice Dell Community project — a 120-unit development for unhoused Angelenos that had been approved by the City Council, secured $42.4 million in state funding, and received California Coastal Commission approval.

Is Traci Park a Republican?

Traci Park was a registered Republican before switching her party registration to Democrat ahead of her 2022 campaign. The Los Angeles Times identifies her as the most conservative member of the Los Angeles City Council. Her campaigns have received substantial support from Republican-aligned donors, corporate real estate interests, and the Los Angeles Police Protective League, which has historically opposed progressive policing reforms and supported Republican candidates.

What controversies is Traci Park involved in?

Traci Park's tenure has involved multiple documented controversies: eight campaign finance violations resulting in an $8,000 Ethics Commission fine; a 2024 fair housing lawsuit alleging illegal obstruction of the Venice Dell Community supportive housing project; an approximately 11-day silence following the vandalization of the Black Lives Matter mural at the First Baptist Church of Venice; opposition to SB 79, California's transit-oriented housing law; opposition to Measure HLA, a street safety measure that passed overwhelmingly in her own district; and opposition to the sanctuary city ordinance protecting immigrant communities.

Who is running against Traci Park in 2026?

Faizah Malik, a housing justice attorney at Public Counsel, is challenging Traci Park in the June 2026 CD11 primary. Malik raised $127,000 in six weeks after launching her campaign. Notably, Malik is also the lead attorney in the Venice Dell fair housing lawsuit filed against Park and the City of Los Angeles, alleging illegal obstruction of supportive housing for Black and Brown Angelenos.

What is Traci Park's stance on immigration?

Traci Park opposes the Los Angeles sanctuary city ordinance that prohibits city resources from being used to enforce federal immigration enforcement. She has backed motions to penalize street vendors, many of whom are immigrant workers. Critics note her positions align with far-right immigration enforcement priorities despite her Democratic party registration.
